Learning Digital, one of KAMIA’s portfolio companies, began working on a revolutionary method for delivering corporate training using Microsoft’s global cloud computing platform back in 2009.

The Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) front-end paired with a cloud content hosting system allowed businesses to deliver consistently managed training material globally without bandwidth bottlenecks or additional IT personnel.

Traditionally, much like ERP systems, Learning Management Systems (LMS) were only available to large corporations with the budget to plan, customize, and deploy complex and costly IT applications. However, with an optimized and standardized SaaS platform, Learning Digital’s product is able to be quickly deployed in small and medium enterprises. This also means the target user will need a simpler and far more intuitive interface.

Working with Learning Digital, KAMIA’s Digital Experience team broke apart the information hierarchy and navigation structure and reassembled the interface.

Using consistent interface elements, well-defined design styles, and standardized layouts, Learning Digital’s team was not only able to quickly redesign their software, but was also able to scale additional features using the same guidelines.

Competitive companies know that a sustainable culture of learning and self-improvement is critical to success. Corporate training, however, constantly needs to fight the stigma of being boring and unproductive. To counter this, we designed the system to be quick, intuitive, and engaging.

When the product launched, we deployed a pilot program to train 300 employees from a financial institution. When the training program ended, a survey showed 98% customer satisfaction. By having helped our portfolio company focus on the end-user, we allowed them to amplify their technology’s potential.

Opus Series 300 scanning probe microscopes employs a novel astigmatic detection method for the imaging of materials down to a resolution of 2 nm. As pioneers in the field of nano-technology research, these devices allow researchers and technicians to conduct complex materials characterization experiments with ease. The multi-step process required for setting up a scan has been simplified, making calibrating, loading and positioning the microscope intuitive. The device has a sealed chamber in which the sample is placed, thus reducing environmental disturbances which could produce noise in the imaging signal. The compact microscope displays a clean rectangular form with a base surface of 145 x 155 mm and a height of 188 mm when closed, and 268 mm when the chamber is opened. It includes an Ethernet interface for data transmission.

KAMIA designed the corporate website for Learning Digital to improve the clarity of communication and overall professionalism. Working with the marketing team, we helped structure the logic in which the information would be delivered on the site.
